Information

President Obama will stare down the media today at his first press conference since the spring. He will attempt to defend his economic policies and fend off questions about his weakened political standing.

A federal judge in California ruled today that the military's "don't ask, don't tell" policy is an unconstitutional violation of 1st Amendment and due process rights.

More policy from the bench: a federal appeals court ruled that the City of Hazleton, Pa., cannot punish businesses or landlords who hire or rent to illegal immigrants, while another court lifted an injunction on federal funding for human embryonic stem cell research.

President Obama today will promote economic adviser Austan D. Goolsbee to chair the Council of Economic Advisers, replacing outgoing Christina Romer.
